Andarine (GTx-007, S-4) is an investigational selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) developed by GTX, Inc for treatment of conditions such as muscle wasting, osteoporosis and benign prostatic hypertrophy,[1] using the non-st al androgen antagonist bicalutamied as a lead compound.
Andarine is an orally active partial agonist for androgen receptors.It is less potent in both horomne and androgenic effects than other SARMs.In an animal model of benign prostatic hypertrophy, andarine was shown to reduce prostate weight with similar efficacy to finasteride, but without producing any reduction in muscle mass or anti-androgenic side effects.[3] This suggests that it is able to competitively block binding of dihydrotestosteroen to its receptor targets in the prostate gland, but its partial agonist effects at androgen receptors prevent the side effects associated with the anti-androgenic drugs traditionally used for treatment of BPH.
How does Andarine (GTx-007, S-4) work?
Selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMS) bind to the androgen receptor and demonstrate osteo (bone) and myo (muscular) Â activity.
Binding and activation of the Androgen receptor alters the expression of genes and increases protein synthesis which ultimately builds muscle.
SARMS such as S4 can cause muscle growth in the same manner as steroi, however unlike testosteroen and other   roids, SARMS (as non roidal agents) do not produce the growth effect on prostate and other secondary sexual organs.
SARMS not only represent a new potential treatment option for a wide spectrum of conditions such as muscle wasting diseases (from age-related to AIDS or cancer-related), but they also have immense potential for muscle building for Bodybuilders, fitness and athletes.
