Three Misunderstandings of Applying Base Fertilizer to Cucumber in Greenhouse

<

Using incompletely decomposed animal manure, some vegetable farmers believe that the more smelly chicken manure, the better the effect. This is a misunderstanding. The cooked chicken manure has almost no foul smell. The chicken manure that has not been fully decomposed is applied to the ground and undergoes secondary fermentation in the shed, which is very easy to produce ammonia damage.

After buckling the film, when the ammonia concentration in the air in the greenhouse reaches 5 mg/L, plants can be harmed; when the ammonia concentration reaches 40 mg/L, root rot and seedling burning can occur. In recent years, the phenomenon of burning seedlings due to insufficient decomposing of raw manure is very common, so some vegetable farmers should pay attention to it.

Re-application of chemical fertilizers and insufficient amount of organic fertilizers. Vegetable farmers have a long-standing habit of paying attention to chemical fertilizers. Excessive and long-term use of chemical fertilizers has caused soil salinization, and the appearance of green moss, red moss and hoarfrost on the soil surface directly affects the normal growth of crop roots .

Although many vegetable farmers have begun to realize the importance of using commercial organic fertilizers, the current amount is generally insufficient. Generally, the use of commercial organic fertilizers in the shed should be about 2000~2500 kg.

Re-application of base fertilizers ignores the use of trace element fertilizers. Because of the continuous cropping of cucumbers in greenhouses for many years, farmers only pay attention to the input of chemical fertilizers, but ignore the supplement of trace elements. Practice has proved that calcium, boron, sulfur, iron, manganese, zinc, molybdenum and other medium and trace elements are very important for improving cucumber yield and quality. For example, when the cucumber lacks calcium, the cucumber root system is not developed, the growth point stops growing, the leaf edge rolls up, and the leaf does not stretch; when the cucumber lacks magnesium, the bud growth stops, the leaf surface turns yellow and white, and the leaf edge becomes necrotic and chlorosis. These symptoms cannot be solved by N, P, and K, and can be alleviated by topdressing foliar fertilizer.
